Kitsap Transit selects its volunteer vanpool drivers using a selection criterion established by The Washington State Transit Insurance Pool.  As a part of the criteria, all potential drivers must undergo a Vanpool Orientation/Defensive Driver Class.  This class is normally held on a Saturday from 9:00a.m-3:00p.m.  Listed below are dates and places for classes through 2007.  Prior to attending class, all candidates must:

1. Retrieve their COMPLETE driving record from the Department of Licensing www.dol.wa.gov/driverslicense/requestyourrecord.html 

2. Completely fill-out and submit a Driver Application Package;  

3. Notify a Kitsap Transit Vanpool Coordinator to reserve a seat in any given class (seating availability is on a first-come, first-serve basis); 

4. and Receive a confirmation from a Kitsap Transit Vanpool Coordinator to attend a class

Candidates successfully completing the class will immediately be eligible to participate as a driver of their vanpool, and will receive a Certificate of Completion and Driver ID card in the mail.
